- Decreased Taxes for the first time in over 2 decades
- Reined in spending and streamlined operations in various town departments
- Performed due diligence to accurately avoid cost overruns
- Made major improvements to the Town pool and parks within appropriated funding
- Brought vague estimates of previous Town Board to actual cost projections for new town. Project start end of 2023
- Negotiating for a cost effective central sewer project to finally bring utilities to the Town of Hyde Park
- Appointed experienced Planning Board members to help fast track applications
- Added Behavioral Health Specialist to assist Police in crises relating to mental health issues.
- Implemented a K-9 Program to aid the Town Police with drug enforcement
- Rescued the abandoned Union Cemetery and manage it at with a positive cash flow
- Honored our Veterans by instituting the Town’s first Hometown Heroes Banner Projec
- Created a Veterans Committee to support Veterans initiatives
- Received grant to provide HPPD all body worn cameras
Since taking Office
- Made fiscal responsibility a top priority.
- Leveraged grant opportunities for municipal infrastructure.
- Redesigned Hackett Hill playground and completed all other park projects.
- Town Hall project completed on time and within budget.
- Through strict oversight the Rt9 sidewalk project was made more efficient and saved the Town over $100,000.
- Obtained grants to salvage the New Guinee site.
- Made Town Hall business friendly and employed common sense to benefit homeowners and business owners investing in our town, such as the Bellefield Hotel and Crofton Project.
- Town Hall equipped to accept Credit/Debit Card for all transactions.
Future Plans
- Planning on scheduling for the Hackett Hill pool renovation:
- Continuing with our final studies for the Falkill Creek Solutions. We can apply for the repair grant to perform the work now that we have the research and design completed.
- Investigation into Farm Lane pedestrians and seniors turning left with vehicles and possible signage to aid.
- Completing sewer district calculations to finalize the cost to go to the residents in the district with a solid program. Town Hall meeting should start end of October.
- Hackett Hill pool renovations, we are working with design A/E to finalize plans.
- Road studies for seniors to cross, this is not only location.
- Condemning 563 N. Quaker, will award contract for the demolition to remove the building without using taxpayer funds.
- Joining the new state “pro housing” for available new housing grants.
- Continuation of the proposed updated Town Comprehensive plan. Last amended update, 2005. We have a grant out for the team review and aid in process. Resident input has already started with Richard and Farmers Market. Will be up on our website for more input from Hyde Park residents.
- As a member of Dutchess County Transit Committee (DCTC) we are working on making our roads safer, studies underway.
- Seeking Grant for the Fallkill Creek Solutions with design phase completed.
- Developing pedestrian and vehicle solutions to the Farm Lane left-hand turn problem.
- Completing final sewer district cost calculations for presentation to the public.
- Demolition of 563 N. Quaker to be awarded at no cost to the Town.
- Joining the NYS “Pro-Housing” for available grants.
- Researching grant opportunities to review and update the Town Comprehensive Plan.
- Member of Dutchess County Transit Committee (DCTC) to advance roadway safety.
- Working on combining building department and zoning to improve the permitting process.
